The Abraham archives: new exhibition at Antwerp’s Mode Museum

El Museo de la Moda de Amberes(MoMu) alberga una interesante colección sobre el legado de los archivos de la compañía suiza Abraham, que creó los estampados que utilizaron los grandes maestros de la moda del siglo XX como Balenciaga, Dior, Givenchy e YSL. Muchos de los diseños fueron encargados a artistas como Joan Miro y Marc Chagall. Una deliciosa conjunción entre arte visual y tejido para dar forma a prendas únicas.

The Fashion Museum in Antwerp (MoMu) hosts an interesting collection on the legacy of the Swiss company Abraham, who created the prints used by the great designers of last century as Balenciaga, Dior, Givenchy and YSL. Many of the designs were commissioned from artists such as Joan Miro and Marc Chagall. A delicious combination between visual art and fabrics to shape unique pieces.

Hipsters around the world: Luis & Adriana in Antwerp

                             

                    

Luis y Adriana. Adriana y Luis. Binomio perfecto que bate récords tras más de ocho años juntos. El pasado fin de semana vinieron a visitarnos y paseamos por Amberes. Ellos también se quedaron enamorados del magnetismo de esta ciudad. Más vanguardista que Bruselas, Amberes ha sabido transformar el poder que tuvo en el siglo XVII como uno de los puertos más importantes de Europa, en un polo de cultura, arte, moda y arquitectura sin referentes. Todo es atractivo perfectamente conjugado con la esencia de su pasado.

Luis and Adriana. Adriana and Luis. It's the perfect couple breaking records after more than 8 years together. They came for 4-days visit to Brussels and we walked through Antwerp last Saturday. They also fell in love with the magnetism of this city. More avant-garde than Brussels, Antwerp has managed to transform the power it had in the XVII century as one of the most important ports in Europe to turn into a center of culture, art, fashion and architecture without referents. Everything is appealing and perfectly combined with its past.

Brussels Design Market

 

 

El 20 y 21 de Abril tuvo lugar el Brussels Design Market en la vieja estación naval de Tour & Taxis. Alrededor de doscientos expositores, profesionales y amateurs provenientes de Bélgica, Francia, Holanda, Italia y Alemania, exhibieron sus muebles, objetos (y hasta autos) de los años 50, 60, 70 y comienzos de los 80. Una muy buena oportunidad para comprar 'vintage'. 

 

 Last 20 and 21 April, around two hundreds exhibitors, professionals and educated amateurs, from Belgium, France, Holland, Germany and Italy, unveiled furniture, objects (and even cars) of the fifties, sixties, seventies and early eighties. It was a perfect opportunity to buy 'vintage' in the historic but exceptional scene of the Old Navy station of Tour & Taxis.

Le Canal de Bruxelles

 

Ayer domingo por la tarde, aproveché el día soleado en Bruselas y lo disfruté a 'orillas' de su canal. Llamado Canal de Charleroi, ya que comienza en esta ciudad al sur de Bruselas, tiene casi 48 km de largo.  En sus alrededores hay bares, restaurantes, discotecas así como también un gran número de fábricas.

Yesterday,  Sunday in the afternoon I decided to spend some time at the canal of Brussels. Sun was shining and I couldn't miss it. Named as the Brussels-Charleroi Canal, as it runs from the city of Charleroi, in the south of Brussels, is almost 48 km long. In its surroundings you can find bars, restaurants, discotheques as well as a big number of fabrics.

Montmartre

Regresé al Montmartre en el que fui tan feliz hace unos años. Es mi barrio. Se respira una gloria pasada, una nostalgia que no se olvida. Todavía queda uno de los siete molinos que poblaron la colina como muestra de un pasado que ya no existe. Pero Montmartre sí que existe y seguirá existiendo por mucho tiempo, porque no es un espacio físico, sino una idea: Montmartre es la bohemia.

I went back to Montmartre where I was so happy a few years ago. This is my neighborhood, my place. It's possible to feel a glourious past, an unforgettable nostalgia. It still remains one of the seven mills located around the hill as a sign of a past that no longer exists. But Montmartre does exist and will exist for a long time, because it is not a physical space but an idea: Montmartre is bohemia.

Paris, mon amour

Vintage skirt from the Second Hand Market

Este fin de semana regresé a París. Y recordé porqué lo amo tanto. Son sus tejados. “París siempre es una buena idea”, repite Sabrina. No puedo estar más de acuerdo con ella. París siempre es un buen lugar para perderse y encontrarse, para respirar, para observar, para soñar, para (re)enamorarse, para pasear, para tararear, para viajar en la Historia.

Esta entrada se la dedico a todas las Ninotchkas, Sabrinas o Amélies que, como yo, se enamoraron algún día de París y continúan enganchadas.

Last weekend I went back to Paris and I could remember why I love it so much: its roofs. "Paris is always a good idea", Sabrina repeats. I cannot agree more with her. Paris is always a good place to get lost and found, to breathe, to see, to dream, to (re) fall in love, to walk, to hum, to travel through the History.

I would like to dedicate this post to all Ninotchka, Sabrina and Amélie who once fell in love with Paris and are still hooked.

Back to school

Hola a todos, esta vez como habrán visto tengo un look un poco old school. Será tal vez la influencia de mi novio Inglés que me regaló esos zapatos oxford y que a último momento le robé su camisa blanca de trabajo y su viejo sweater (que ya no usaba y yo lo reciclé). La pollera que llevo es de cuero negra que la compré en un vintage aquí en Bruselas. La combinación azul y negro me encanta, a ustedes?

Hi everyone, this time I've chosen an old school look. Perhaps it's the influence of my English boyfriend, who gave me for my birthday these oxford shoes, and then I also have his white shirt and his old jumper that I decided to recycle. The black leather skirt I bought it in vintage shop in Brussels. Love the blue & black combination, what do you think?
