This post is dedicated to my parents who visited me here in Brussels one year ago, staying in this cute hotel. Les Bluets has but a few rooms, but each one resembles the large antique shops to be found in San Telmo. The owner of the hotel is an aficionado of fleas markets and the house is full of paintings, carpets, vases and plates from all ages, piled up in any order collecting dust, but with a certain Belgian charm. Yet as it happens, this lady, who is very Belgian with her large hips and strident voice, lived much of her life in Colombia, the homeland of her husband.

Roses in front of an enclosed balcony

Pics by Raqui Lago

I cannot resist to stop every time I pass by this number 21 of this street in Brussels. I love how the roses cover the curious eyes of those who are hiding behind this beautiful enclosed balcony. This inspires me a journey into the past, to an old train station, to a love in troubled times.

Place de Jamblinne de Meux

Pics by Raqui Lago

Spring finally gave us a day of sun, light and heat and we all went outside to recharge our batteries. While having a walk, we bumped into the place Jamblinne Meux, a lovely sunny square with beautiful lime trees and decorated with an industry inspired fountain. Belgium has therefore never tried to hide its glorious past linked to the world of heavy industry, which can be seen in a number of buildings around the country.

The Rue de Minimes / Minimemstraat in Brussels, joins Rue du Faucon to the Place du Grand Sablon. This street owes its current name to the convent of the Order of Minims that housed since 1621. However, since the fourteenth century, this street was called in Latin Super Zabulum quo iter versus Obbruxellam, which means "the road between Saint-Gilles and Sablon". It should be noted that the construction of the Palais de Justice (coming soon) shortened this beautiful street, which is now at the heart of the antiques district. The particular street is now hosting most of the African art dealers from Belgium and, on the top of this, it is one of the epicenters of African art in the world.

Rainy Namur

This time we changed city and we head to the city of Namur, in southern Belgium. I will just describe my look as on the next post I will tell you more about the city. It was a rainy day so I decided to wear my blue plastic shoes and my favourite rainy jacket.

Back to school

Hi everyone, this time I've chosen an old school look. Perhaps it's the influence of my English boyfriend, who gave me for my birthday these oxford shoes, and then I also have his white shirt and his old jumper that I decided to recycle. The black leather skirt I bought it in vintage shop in Brussels. Love the blue & black combination, what do you think?
